Blog Posting for December 19

Please work on completing your greeting card today. Tomorrow we will put on the finishing touches and I will show you how we are going to print them in different formats.

If you are finished with the greeting card please do the following: (Many of you have already done work in KeyTrain so the process should be familiar to you.) Please note that I have assigned a new lesson: Career Clusters - Arts and Communications in addition to the three lessons (Applied Math, Reading for Information and Locating Information) that you would have worked on in Online A and B.

You are to work on KeyTrain today. The web site to sign on to KeyTrain is: Keytrain.com

Once you have signed on scroll down to until you see the 'Key Train Users Zone'. Click on the red 'enter here' link.

Once the 'Welcome to KeyTrain' screen comes up then click on the red 'Run KeyTrain Online' link.

Remember that to sign on use the following:

user name: bedford12345 (replace 12345 with your student id)
password: bedford

You can work on any of the following:
Applied Math
Reading for Information
Locating Information
Career Clusters - Arts and Communications (no pre-test required)

If you have not completed the pre-test for a lesson then you must complete that first. Once you have completed the pre-test you will then work on the 'test-training' for the highest level of your pre-test. For instance if I pre-tested at a level 4 for Locating Information then I would click on the start button for level 4.

The Career Clusters - Arts and Communications training is designed specifically for your career pathway. I would like for you to complete the training for this lesson during second term.

Part of the your class grade will depend on the progress you make in KeyTrain.

Good luck and have a great day.

Dennis should be able to help anyone who has issues getting on and using KeyTrain.

Please make sure that you put away the digital tablets before leaving today. I stashed the tablets in the beige filing cabinet in the back of the room. Look in the different drawers and you will find the tablets.

How Does Graphic Design Impact My Life and the Media Today

This posting should be a thoughtful and insightful response to how you see graphic design being used in the media today and how the media is influencing your life.

Give us specific examples of how you see the media driving our culture today. Do you see the use of graphic design as a means to drive changes in our culture/ If yes, how and why. If no, how and why not.

Share specific examples of how our culture and society has changed based on what is presented by the media today.

Share specific examples of what you feel is great graphic design. (can be anything from billboards, menus, online media, ads on the side of a bus or taxi, etc.)

Define the term: 'a picture is worth a thousand words'. Give a specific example of the meaning of this term.

What I Learned About My Classmates

You are to post here AFTER you have read and responded to at least 5 other classmates' comments from the 'blog rules' posting. Be sincere and thoughtful.

In this posting you are to tell us what you have learned about your classmates such as:

What you have in common
What goals you might share
What books you both like
What you found to be most interesting and why

Blog Rules

Hello Graphic Design and welcome to our class blog.

Blogging is one of the topics we will discuss in class and what better way to learn than to use a blog. We will use this blog throughout the term in a couple different ways.

It may be to respond to something we do in class. It may be to post work, or comment on other's work. A blog has many different uses. We also will have each of you create a blog so that you can see how easy it is.

Before we begin blogging there are a few ground rules!
1. All posts, must use appropriate school language and be completed in paragraph form. When you post, you should be using complete sentences with proper grammar and spelling. NO: U, R, UR, i, CUZ, etc.

2. When posting a comment, you may agree or disagree with another students comment. However, you must state why you feel that way and must do it in a manner that is polite and non-judgmental. The comments need to be non-personal and refrain from sarcasm and put-downs.

3. You must comment on every post, it is an assignment (unless otherwise stated).

4. You must address the topics and questions posted on the blog. You cannot simply write, “I agree.”
