Final Class Posting

Please make sure that you have completed ALL the requirements of the blog pages regarding your work. What to print, what to add to your web site, all work on your P drive in project folders, etc. If I can't find your work in the proper location you will NOT receive a grade for the work.

Make sure that your personal web site has been updated to include ALL the necessary elements, images, etc. Make sure that you have work on each page as required.

Look back through the class blog to make SURE you have met all the requirements.

If you have waited until the last minute to do everything I have no sympathy.

Do NOT delete work from your P drive. I will be checking your P drive before I post my final grades.

Remember to do the Creative Commons assignment from yesterday. Make SURE you send me the link to review your work. Again, if you are not prepared, no sympathy!

EVERY page of your personal web site should showcase some of your work. We made pages for each application: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. Convert the native files to jpg format and you can add the element to your personal web site.

Protecting Your Intellectual Property

The Creative Commons License's are used to give everyday people like you and me ways to protect our intellectual property. We can 'license' our creative work so that other people can use our work without our permission or give us credit for our work.

The steps to license your work are really very simple:
create an account in Flickr
Upload your images
Once the images have been uploaded you will 'edit' the permissions and privacy so that you set the Create Common license level that you want to use
Remember that you can not take credit for someone else's work and you don't want someone else to take credit for your work - if this happens then you are breaking the law (or someone else is)

All of the 'self-created' images for this class that you uploaded to your personal web site must be uploaded to Flickr
After uploading you are to TAG all the images as: MCCormickGraphicDesign
Next you are to set the Creative Common License for each image

Please see this link in Flickr and make sure that you understand the guidelines BEFORE you upload. This is a serious step for designers. You want to make sure that you are protected. http://www.flickr.com/help/guidelines/

What Is All The Hype About

With all of the talk about the possibility of Google, You Tube, Wikipedia and other social online sites being shut down what is the real story?

.What is the real story of SOPA and PIPA?

Today you are going to RESEARCH each of these proposed bills to find out what the real truth is and what is propaganda.

You must find 6 current articles about this bills (3 for each). You must read each of the articles completely and you must post your URL's here in a comment. Your articles must be from reliable and reputable sources.

After you have found and read the articles you are to use MS Publisher to create a ONE page flyer about the facts of SOPA and PIPA. Your flyer should be informational and truthful. Your flyer should draw the readers attention with a professional font, content and graphics. No more than 2 graphics can be used. You may use a page border to enhance the flyer.

The purpose of the flyer is to INFORM the public about the true meaning of SOPA and PIPA. You must inform the reader about what is truth and what is not the truth. Basically you should take a truth and lie approach. For each lie you must state a truth.

The most important part of the assignment is to become WELL INFORMED about the issues.

Happy Researching!

Posting for January 3

Students, we are going to work on creating a poster for The North American Auto Show this week. Listed here you will find a link that will tell you what the poster must contain. Please make sure you read the size and required elements carefully.

Each of you must include at least 1 SIGNFICANT hand drawn element in your design. (Using the drawing tablet.)

Before you begin actual work on your design you must create a handdrawn sketch of your plan. The sketch must be as detailed as possible. The sketch will be a requirement of the project.
